The White house has posted their version of events from January 6. If this is allowed to remain, it is a slap in the face to truth and history. If this isn't the final reason to impeach, along with venzuela events, I dont know what how we will end up.
How horrible that you lost your cousin on 9/11. I was in rural Maryland scanning the skies for the third hijacked plane. I had planned to go into the Library of Congress to do research for my dissertation a bit later that morning, but that obviously was not going to happen. Segway to January 6th, 2021. I watched on television the place connected to where I spent so much time (I had a research shelf in the LOC in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s while I wrote my dissertation) under siege by my fellow Americans. I wondered if the security guards I greeted and spoke with as I ate my lunches in the eating areas were still there and now doing battle with our angry American kin? What an awful day with a lasting impact on our country.
Thanks for this worthy remembrance. And as to remembrance, it’s important to remember, and to say explicitly that the president and the members of his crime cult don’t just distort what happened, they flat, outright lie about it.

The seat of democracy, and those brave defenders must be remembered and honoured for their sacrifices. A reminder that the attack on democracy should never happen again.
We, as a people, must keep the memory of January 6, 2021 burning brightly with the goal of ensuring that such a travesty is never allowed to occur again and that the perpetrators of the madness on that day are remembered as the treasonous beings that they are.
I am stunned to learn of the loss of Alisha, your cousin. How very personal 9/11 is for you. Years ago I arranged for our kids to hear the experience of a WWII veteran, John. Just a day or two ago I recalled John describing how one day he was a grocer and a church organist, and just a couple of weeks later he was learning to bayonet a dummy, instructed to not only impale, but pull upward to finish the job. At the time, I was appreciating John's story telling abilities, keeping our kids' interest. Now I'm revisiting his account and feeling more of the horror of his reality. How to correct the way I receive the telling of history to understand the players, the human drama, the magnitude of loss sustained that isn't always readily apparent? Thank you for keeping the impact of 1/6/21 alive.
My wife and I watched in horror as events unfolded on January 6, 2021. What MAGA and their followers are doing in trying to erase history is disgusting and as unpatriotic as one can be. Fortunately, there is enough video, oral and written evidence for future generations to examine and rightly determine what went on that infamous day. And, that plaque will be mounted as soon as the Democrats retake the House in 2026 and a new Speaker is elected. And it will be fitting that the plaque goes up on January 6, 2027.
