Happy Holidays and a very Happy and Successful New Year. I thoroughly enjoy your site and the comments by your followers. Thanks for that.
I agree with your comment about chasing a ghost. We need to insure free speech. We need to confront the issues. Moving for these reasons does not make sense to me. I realize people will have a different view and move on to something else. That is fine.
Excellent interview with Dr. Karen Cox. What you said about “forgive and forget” got me thinking - the lost cause insists that the rebels be forgiven for trying to destroy the country, and to forget that it was about the right to keep fellow human beings enslaved.
I was looking for a picture of what’s left at Arlington - thank you so much for including one. Very satisfying.
I read what another Kevin said about moving on, and I agree with you, that it’s chasing a ghost to find a place where hate will be excluded. You’re doing good work here, and I hope you’ll stay and continue to grow your influence.
So Happiest of Holidays, Best New Year ever, and hugs to your Best Beloved and Otis!
UDC members were incredibly ambivalent about reconciliation, specifically as an attitude of 'forgive and forget.' They didn't want to forget anything and they most certainly didn't believe that they needed to be forgiven. What they dedicated in Arlington was the boldest statement possible that the Confederacy was right. The fact that others may have *chosen* to use the dedication to promote their own understanding of reconciliation should not detract us from what the UDC intended for that site.
Thanks for the feedback re: site migration. It's a tough one. Happy Holidays to you and your family and thanks again for all your support.
Happy holidays and many thanks for much enjoyment and education this year!
Good riddance to the Confed monument at Arlington.
You are very welcome. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

PS looking forward to you new book.
Thanks for the feedback, Mike.
Finishing that book is my top priority for the New Year.
Happy Holidays.
