Back from DC Last week in Washington, D.C. was hot and exhausting, but the opportunity to work with so many incredibly talented and passionate history teachers has left me reinvigorated. I made some wonderful new friends and I learned a great deal from all of them. Check out the Fords Theatre website if you are interested in taking part in this
I have a question - what is your opinion of Dr. Gary Gallagher as a Civil War historian? I have thought about purchasing a Great Courses Civil War course given by him. Would it be worth my time?
Also, thanks for the Otis pic. He is a very handsome pup.
Few people have taught me more about the Civil War era. Gary was my neighbor for 11 years when I lived in Charlottesville so we spent a good deal of time together. I am grateful for his support over the years. He is one of the best lecturers out there and I have seen nothing but positive reviews of his online Civil War class. Enjoy.
Thank you for the positive recommendation. My knowledge of the Civil War/Reconstruction is very limited even with a Masters degree in history. I am always looking to add to my knowledge of historical events/eras.
I thought you might enjoy reading my piece on my great-grandfather, Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire: https://medium.com/@margaretseiler/a-closet-full-of-skeletons-9c68d96904f5. More to come!
Thanks for the tip about section 27 at Arlington - will have to go there.
Otis looks happy and healthy, heat notwithstanding.

Good post, but my 'like' today is for Otis. :)
You are not alone. :-)
