Delighted to hear about the Till and Till-Mobley monuments, especially considering that the original marker mysteriously kept being shot up. I knew little about Till-Mobley until I saw the recent film, Till.

I was one of the musicians in the opening scene (onscreen for about half a second). Got to meet the cast and had lunch with Ang Lee, he had a really interesting perspective on the work. My great-grandfather was in the 2nd Missouri US Cavalry and fought against many of those pro-slavery guerrillas, so I carried a few of his personal belongings in my costume for that shoot.

Highly highly recommend the book that "Ride with the Devil" is based on: "Woe to Live On" by Daniel Woodrell. https://www.fountainbookstore.com/item/O5Vnk7V2ni8nw1Q4_Xnh7w

That said, I thought this a fine movie of the wars on the western borders.

Oh, I've watched "Ride With the Devil" many times, but not as many as "Glory" which might be, IMHO, the best Civil War movie ever made.

Glory is most definitely the best Civil War movie to date, but RWTD is right up there. Hope to see you at our discussion in September.

Ordered that book, "The Civil War and Pop Culture."

Awesome. Hope you enjoy it, Clay.

I always thought Ride With the Devil was the best Civil War movie bar none. Brutal, real, no phony glorification, and actually nuanced
