A Preview of the Civil War Institute Summer Conference at Gettysburg College

A conversation with CWI director and historian, Peter Carmichael.

UPDATE: If you are interested in registering for the conference, use the code: PAR for a 15% discount.

The Civil War Institute’s annual conference in June is, by far, my favorite event of the year. I’ve participated on a number of occasions over the past ten years and each experience is memorable. The conference takes place in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on the beautiful campus of Gettysburg College.

Over the course of five days you will hear from some of the top historians in the field and tour battlefields and other historic sites. Best of all, you get to spend time with upwards of 300 fellow attendees, who all share the same deep interest in the history of the Civil War era.

In this video interview I talk with CWI director Peter Carmichael, who offers an overview of the conference, including the different events and a snapshot of some of the topics that will be discussed this year.

Check out the program for yourself. Make sure to take advantage of the discount that is being offered to readers of this newsletter. Contact the CWI office at 717-337-6590 or civilwar@gettysburg.edu for the appropriate discount code.
