Open Thread Thursday: Your Own Personal Research Project
A quick reminder that I will be hosting a discussion about the movie GETTYSBURG for all paid subscribers on Sunday, November 12 at 7PM EST. This is going to be a lot of fun. I plan on sharing some thoughts about the 30th anniversary of the movie and its place in recent Civil War memory to get the conversation started. Hope you can make it.
I’ve been very lucky over the years to have had the opportunity to conduct my own historical research. It can be very tedious and the process is filled with disappointments and setbacks, but nothing beats the chance to formulate your own questions and attempt to answer them to the best of your ability with the available evidence, the scholarship of others, and your own flawed and occasionally insightful thoughts.
It got me wondering.
