Interpreting St. Paul's Episcopal Church's Confederate Windows

One of the things I really enjoyed about my recent interview with historian Chris Graham was his analysis of the stained glass windows inside St. Paul’s Episcopal Church that honor Robert E. Interview With Christopher Graham
Watch now (70 min) | It was a pleasure spending time with Christopher Graham to discuss his new book, Faith, Race, and the Lost Cause: Confessions of a Southern Church (University Press of Virginia). Chris does an excellent job of laying out the historical context for the dedication of the windows in the 1890s and with analyzing the windows themselves.

Share Civil War Memory

I thought it would be helpful to share this part of the interview for those of you who don’t have the time to watch it in its entirety. It also makes for a really good classroom resource for those of you teaching the Civil War and Civil War memory.

I’ve decided to make these book discussions available to all subscribers. I simply can’t justify asking someone to take time out of their schedule to talk about their new book and only make it available to a couple hundred subscribers, which I hope makes sense.

More general discussions, including my upcoming interview with Ty Seidule, will, however, only be available to paid subscribers.

That said, if you enjoy these interviews I hope you will consider subscribing as a paid member or upgrading to a paid membership. Your support makes it possible for me to purchase new books and please keep in mind that it takes time to prepare for these interviews.

Civil War Memory is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
